FEATHER DANCE PRESS RELEASE
Minnesota Horse Expo Brings First Lighted Friesian Performance to Minnesota!

FeatherDance Equine Entertainment proudly presents the BlackPearl, a captivating troupe of dancing Friesian stallions, performing at the 26th annual Minnesota Horse Expo at the State Fairgrounds on April 25th-27th. Look for Marco, a stunning stallion with a long flowing mane down to his knees.  This 12 yr old keystone performer delights audiences young and old with a full arsenal of circensic tricks.  Joining Marco are 9 yr old Zorro, and 8 yr old Vogue, both successful dressage competitors, Garem, Hessel, and Novi all just 5 years old, and resident understudy Schubert, an 11 year old gelding on standby if needed.  These horses are true performers, who work hard for applause and approval from their viewers.  Witness for yourself the gentle, willing nature of these majestic stallions as they dance their way into your heart!

Guiding these gentle giants through their elegant dances are the often-overlooked riders, who work hard coming up with music and choreography that will do justice to the beautiful animated movement of their mounts.  Led by Susan DeBoer, owner of FeatherDance, and joined by Mindy Price, dressage instructor; Sunny Palmisano and Tamara Johnson, both long time BlackPearl performers; Steven Anderson and Arden Liotta, accomplished riders that have just recently joined in the BlackPearl fun.  On standby is Hana Heuer, just 16 years old.  Hana will stand in, should anything happen to one of our regular riders. Ask any of the riders and they will tell you that they give up their time and often pay out of their own pockets to perform because seeing first hand how these horses touch their audience is absolutely incredible, and very addictive!

Perhaps more than any other breed, the Friesian has illustrated his extreme versatility as a war horse, a light draft horse, a harness racing horse, a circus horse and of course, a modern dressage horse of unparalleled beauty and talent.  Known for an abundance of hair (manes can be in excess of 5 feet long) a lively and high-stepping trot and a powerful, thundering canter, you will often “feel” the Friesian coming long before you see him!

The Friesian was an exemplary war horse, rare and beautiful, powerful and true, ridden into battle by such nobles as Don Juan of Austria and King Louis II of Hungary.  Originating in the Netherlands from Equus Robustus, the breed was further refined by the Andalusian horse during Spanish occupation in the 1500s.  The Friesian was highly praised for its talent in dressage and was used in the Spanish Riding School in the 1600s before the Lipizzans became the horse of choice.

Performing for the first time ever at the Minnesota Horse Expo in their own home state, FeatherDance promises a show you will not forget, including a surreal matinee performance with lighted horses dancing in the dark!  Visit www.featherdance.org for information about the BlackPearl performers and www.mnhorseexpo.org or 877-462-8758 for the event schedule, admission and more.  And stop by stalls 748-753 at the Minnesota Horse Expo…there are six Friesian stallions waiting to meet you in person!
